Scholarships

Basic Scholarship

The basic financial support consists of a monthly scholarship and a monthly sum for books. The calculation of scholarships takes place on the basis of guidelines that are determined by the German State Department for Education and Research (BMBF). In order to determine the required level of support – as for the Federal Student Financial Aid Programme (BaföG) – a means tested calculation of the income and capital of the scholarship recipient, their parents and, if applicable, their husband or wife is required. The maximum monthly scholarship amounts to 525 €. Book money constitutes of a standard 80 € monthly sum.

Furthermore, the Cusanuswerk encourages its scholarship recipients to complement their degree programmes during the scholarship programme with a stay abroad and supports the study abroad, language courses, final year medical studies, clinical electives, internships, international study trips, research residencies and specialised courses.

Graduate Scholarship

Graduate scholarships are calculated independently of the income of the scholarship recipient’s parents. Merely the income and capital of the scholar is drawn upon to determine the required amount of support. The basic scholarship amounts to a monthly sum of 920 €. An additional monthly research cost rate of 100 € as well as, under certain conditions, a 155 € family allowance and a childcare allowance of up to 255 €.

If research trips abroad are necessary, an international allowance may be paid; travel costs and tuition fees may be reimbursed.
